Zoo Nights & Lights

The Gladys Porter Zoo will be hosting its brightest event of the holiday season—Zoo Nights & Lights, presented by McDonald’s. New this year, guests can see the dazzling light displays from new heights on the Soaring Eagle Zipline for only $10 per person. Zoo Nights & Lights will continue to offer festive fun for the whole family despite ongoing construction at the Zoo. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable closed-toed shoes to this popular holiday event, which will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on December 5th, 6th and 7th.

Guests are invited to kick off the holiday season with a magical stroll at the Zoo where they can enjoy spectacular light displays as well as live music and dance performances from talented local groups. Other festivities include Christmas karaoke, cookie decorating, pictures with Santa and more! Visitors can also do some holiday shopping and find unique gifts for their loved ones at the arts and crafts show as well as in the Zoo’s gift shop.

Adding to the holiday cheer, guests can walk through the Zoo’s Christmas Tree Lane, lined with beautifully decorated trees designed by competing teams of Zoo staff. Visitors can then vote for their favorite tree and help choose the contest winners.

The price of admission for this event is $5.00 per person. Tickets for Zoo Nights & Lights are available online and at the gate. Zoo members receive free admission to the event with their membership cards. To shorten wait times, members are encouraged to pick up their free tickets in advance at the Membership Office. Non-members can also receive free admission by donating a new, unwrapped toy for the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley. The toy must be valued at $5.00 or more—only one free admission will be granted per toy donation.

Zoo Nights & Lights would not be possible without the generous support of its sponsors: McDonald’s, H-E-B Helping Here, Chick-fil-A, Brownsville Public Utilities Board, NextDecade Rio Grande LNG, Digital 101.5, NBC 23, CBS 4, the City of Brownsville and Visit Brownsville.
