Virtual Wild Tales
For 18 years, the Gladys Porter Zoo has hosted Wild Tales at the Zoo. Unfortunately, this year that was not possible due to our current circumstances, therefore; it will be presented virtually on Sunday, March 7, 2021.
Staring at 10:00 a.m., it will launch on Facebook and YouTube. Stories will be read by the authors and guest readers. Also appearing will be some of the Zoo’s keepers and animals.
Sharon Putgenat is a local author and retired educator and school administrator, will be reading her book, “Nani’s Wish: A True Pig’s Tale,”
Melanie Smith was originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma but has been a proud transplant to the RGV for many years. She is currently a Librarian at Burns Elementary and enthusiastic storyteller, will be reading “Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock” and “2 Ways to Count to Ten: A Liberian Folktale.” She has been a librarian for 29 years, and her favorite thing to do is read to the kids! She believes that reading with enthusiasm helps encourage students to read.
