Children’s Play Day
The UTRGV College of Education will host a Children’s Play Day at the Gladys Porter Zoo in honor of the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC) Week of the Young Child™, which advocates for the importance of early- learning opportunities for all young children. The purpose of the “Children’s Play Day” is to also promote diversity and to advocate for children’s right to play. Pre-service teachers under the direction of Dr. Cortez-Castro, from the College of Education, will set up 25 different play stations around the Zoo with educational games from around the world. Bring your child to learn and play at the Zoo. This event is free with the purchase of general admission or Zoo membership.
